“Black is beautiful” is a common phrase believed to be coined by John Rock in 1858. Bill Allen, a freelance writer for advertising agencies came out in the 1950s to claim he coined the same phrase.The phrase is also said to have gotten its roots from the Négritude movement of the 1930s. Negritude argued for the importance of a Pan-African racial identity among people of African descent worldwide.

The aim was to dispel the racist notion that black people’s natural features such as skin color, facial features and hair are inherently ugly
But is black really beautiful?
According to Mr Victor Philips fair Ladies are not necessarily more beautiful than dark toned Ladies.
He explained that some men would rather go for dark Ladies because they feel fair Ladies are bleached and unnatural, to some other men black skinned women are not attractive, he added that most men prefer her in between complexions like light chocolate complexion.
Beyond complexion however, the majority go for physical endowment, he adds.
For Mr Bege Peter fair women are in actual sense very attractive because the nature of their colour seems inviting and most men would prefer them in real sense especially to show off.
“For me however I want a Chocolatey lady neither fair nor too dark. There are certain dark Ladies that makes a man to trip, which may be due to her height, figure and composure. While some appreciate seeing a lady’s complexion change from Dark to fair ,I don’t like skin bleaching because of two reasons, I believe it’s a sign of low self-esteem and immaturity. It promotes aging faster and creates bigger room for a skin cancer” .A bit of skin toning is better than bleaching, he adds.
Anthoni David Ubi says he is not particular about complexion because he has seen himself attracted to dark, fair and chocolate complexion ladies He just likes ladies looking good.
According to him, emphasis should not be put on colour because attraction does not last long, other things also matter, for instance you can be attracted to someone but by the time you get close you might not end up liking the person.
He however admitted that although he is not particular about colour he is attracted to ladies by their physic.
Edwina Jarumai is one Dark beautiful Lady who is not ready to give up are dark complexion for anything.
She explained that she had never thought of altering her complexion
“the fact that scars are easy to hide compared to lighter tones is what I like most about dark toned skin”
She advised dark toned people to Embrace it and be comfortable in their skin. “Trying to change it would only cause more damage and even cost you more financially. So imagine spending so much money at the end of the day ,only to destroy your skin” to be continued…….
